Hello nigel
We have recieved a email from our developers asking for €600 for the payment of IPT tax
we dont have our title deeds we paid in 2009. 250 cy for the villa we are in and its contract
Is in joint names,
I have asked for proof of the 1980 value as issued by the land registry and also copt of the tax
Demand,
They say if we dont pay the €600 their will be penalties but without proof that this is the correct amount i am assuming we dont pay it,
They also claim if we dont agree in the amount we can reclaim the overpaid amount via the tax office when we get our deeds BUT their are still 3 villas not completed so we could be waiting years,
Can you advise,
Thanks,
Tony

Re: Developers IPT bill
Hi Tony and welcome to the forum,
Some time ago the Cyprus Property Action Group (CPAG) sought legal opinion on this matter and you can read their report on how to deal with the situation at Immovable property tax & fraudulent practices.
And there's a summary on my website at Immovable Property Tax law.
It does take many years for Title Deeds to be issued (although Cyprus has agreed to reduce the backlog to less than 2,000 by the end of next year) - so there is some hope.
Regards,
