My landlord is Russian and he is living abroad. I am renting his apartment through an agency.
For Tax reasons I would need the rental agreement to be stamped and he is refusing to provide me the document. I only have a foto of the contract.
From what I read online the landlord is responsible of having it stamped. A non stamped contract can not be even used in Court. As it it does it have any actual legal value?
When I first arrived in Cyprus I remember that I had a Mukhatar stamping my rental contract and I used that to apply for the yellow slip.
Can I somehow manage do it on my own if I get the original? The contract is 7 months old
Any experience or suggestion in this regard would be very appreciated.
thx
Landlord refusing to stamp the contract
Re: Landlord refusing to stamp the contract
It does not need stamping as such, but needs revenue stamps placed on it. If you get the original, you can buy the revenue stamps from the post office, affix them to the signature page, draw two parallel lines across them and sign. Job done your contract is now legit.muri0 wrote: 28 Aug 2024 13:28 My landlord is Russian and he is living abroad. I am renting his apartment through an agency.

If you tell me the rental amount, I will tell you the amount of revenue stamps you need. Assuming it is a 12 month contract.

Re: Landlord refusing to stamp the contract
I assume you also paid a bond of the same amount in which case you need 22 euros worth of revenue stamps .

Re: Landlord refusing to stamp the contract
Your landlord is most likely renting out a property that falls under the reduced VAT rule, so he actually is not allowed to rent it out at all. It is on you what you do with this information.
