Building Planning Permission Amnesty.......!

Post by JohnTB »

Hi Nigel

A few years back there was a 'planning amnesty' period where changes made to properties without planning permission could be formalised and added to plans etc.

I am aware this expired some time ago however I wondered if you were aware if another 'amnesty' period was ever likely to be offered in the near to medium future?

Your thoughts etc. would be very welcome, thanks

Regards

Hi John

Your guess will be as good as mine on any future building amnesties, but anything's possible.

What's the issue with your property?

Nigel

We turned a tiled are outside the back door of our townhous into a small extension with a roof, measures around 2X3M.
Would this be a problem if we wanted to sell?

Assuming you got planning permission, it wouldn't be problem.

If you didn't get planning permission and a potential buyer instructed a decent lawyer, he'd soon discover that you built without permission. He'd advise your potential buyer accordingly.

It doesn't really say a lot. The idea seems ok, but the devil is in the detail. If things can be fixed with money, why they don't just fix them. Or just another government scam to extort buyers of their hard earned cash.

They developers should be made to pay!!!
