Did anyone else buy through MRI?

Post by sunflower »

Hi
I am a new member and already I am finding this forum invaluable.

Is there anyone out there who bought property off plan through MRI two years ago, and the property is about to be completed in the next few weeks?

My colleague and I did just that with the clear intention that we would sell on completion. MRI were very assuring that they would assist us with a re-sale. We also paid membership to the aftersales club which was supposed to afford us certain benefits ... these now appear to have fallen by the wayside. We have recently learned that MRI is trading as DCC and it is their new policy not to market re-sale property, only concentrate on off-plan.

We feel we have been left high and dry. Does anyone know any reputabel estate agents we can register our property with? We realise it is not an easy time to sell but we want to sell and only want to recover our costs so we are not looking for a profit which means the asking price would not be inflated.

Any help or communication would be very much appreciated.

Hello Anita and welcome to the forum,

MRI's Dominic Pickering recently issued a press release about the future of the company, you can read it at http://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers. ... i/id=00692

If you have paid MRI for something that they are now not delivering, I suggest you have a word with your local Citizens Advice Bureau. You should be able to make a claim against MRI and recover your money.

You'll find a list of registered estate agents on my website at http://www.cyprus-property-buyers.com/f ... agents.pdf and you'll also find several Internet sites where you'll be able to advertise your property.

If you have difficulty finding a buyer, you could try renting it out - a good website for hints and tips about doing this is 'Lay my Hat'. You'll find it at http://www.laymyhat.com/ - also some of the Estate Agents on the list above may be able to help you find someone to rent the property long-term.

Whereabouts is the property? I may be able to dig up some companies in the area that specialise in long-term rentals.
