VAT grant

Post by avanapa »

Having received the vat refund (grant) a couple of years ago I remember mention of repayment of the money should you sell within a 10yr period. I am aware that it is on a sliding scale basis but do you know if the clock is ticking from the date of house purchase or is it from the date you received the refund.

Hi avanapa,

I'm not absolutely sure, but if you look at the details of the VAT Grant at http://www.cyprus-property-buyers.com/f ... _grant.pdf , it says:

"Upon receipt of the grant the beneficiary is obliged to use the property as his/her main and permanent residence for a ten-year period."

which seems to infer that the 10 year countdown starts from the date you receive the grant.
