Council Of Ministers

Post by Jane »

A friend who has been resident in Cyprus since 2005 approximately and was widowed last year has been looking at her Sales Agreeement and has been thrown into a total panic by a paragraph entitled "Application to the Council of Ministers". The property was bought in 2007 in joint names and was transferred to her sole name prior to her husbands death last year. Reading up on what I can on her behalf I can only find reference to this application if the purchaser is a non EU resident. Before their move to Cyprus she had been born and lived solely in the UK. I do not think she has anything to be concerned about but would appreciate clarification.

Many thanks

Hi Jane and welcome to the forum.

If your friend is an EU citizen, she has nothing to worry about. EU citizens can own as many properties as they wish without permission.

It's only non-EU citizens who have to apply to the Council of Ministers.
