Hi Nigel
Firstly, may I say what a super forum this is, the information is invaluable.
Secondly, I would be grateful if you would give me a little advice.
My sister and I inherited my mum's house in Paralimni, Famagusta just under two years ago. We have been trying to get the title deeds to enable us to sell the property. We have asked our Solicitor in Cyprus and the developer and don't seem to be getting anywhere. The property has been transferred into our names. Can we go to the Land registry and apply for the deeds ourselves.
I would be grateful for any advice you could give me.
regards
rachel

Re: inheriting a property in Cyprus
Hello Rachel, welcome to the forum.
Firstly, you do not needs deeds to sell your property. If you ave been throug probate and ave the contract in your names deposited at the lad registry, you can still sell.
You cannot just apply for deeds, this is something the developer as to do and depending on who he is, the age of the property and a number of other matters, you may or may not see them for some time.
Your first port of call is to ask the developer where he is with them to get some idea where your are. This might give an indication of time to complete. You have to remember that when the deeds are ready there is goin to be transfer fees to pay nd depending on the purchase price I will be calculated on that.
Who was your developer out of interest?
If you would like to contact me directly, I could advise on the sale ability of the property.
Good luck.
Pan

Hi Pan
thank u so much for your advice. Going over to cyprus in May. Gonna go and see the developer and solicitor. Hopefully, I will get somewhere ha ha!! I will probably be very old and grey by the time this is sorted out!!
wish me luck!!!
Can't remember the developers name. Think he is based in Paralimni or famagusta area. My sister knows more about it. She is mainly dealing with all this.
thank you
