Revoke Power of Attorney

Hi Nigel

My Husband and I signed a General Power of Attorney Doc which states that the document cannot be revoked.
Can this last statement really be upheld.

I am not sure about this. I found a definition on a legal site that says:

"Irrevocable power of attorney means a power of attorney which a principle cannot revoke. In order to constitute an irrevocable power of attorney there must coexist with the power a beneficial interest in the subject thereof which is enforceable, or the power must be given as security for the payment of a sum of money other than that which arises as compensation through the exercise of the power, or as security for the performance of some act of value. It is also called as a power of attorney coupled with an interest."

I would say that providing you pay the lawyer any outstanding fees you may owe you can revoke the PoA.

I suggest you speak to a lawyer in the UK to confirm - or perhaps the lawyer you contacted in Cyprus.

We dont owe anything to the Lawyer so I hope its not a problem to revoke it.
With Reference to the Town Planning I have now sent enails to 2 more Lawyers neither of which have replied. Feeling a bit frustrated and anxious considering the time limit.

There is no need to contact a lawyer about the Town Planning Amnesty, you can speak directly with an ETEK registered Architect or Civil Engineer. You can download the list provide by ETEK from http://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers. ... ineers.pdf

And you will get a much response if you telephone.

with reference to the first post i sent to you, I had thought because my husband and I could not be present in Cyprus, we would need a lawyer to put in the application.

No - there is no need for a lawyer. You can download the forms and complete them in the UK and then post them to the architect/engineer.

I read that The Town planning Amnesty deadline may be extended. Does anyone know when this will be decided.

The decision on whether to extend (and simplify) the Town Planning Amnesty will be taken tomorrow in parliament. As the major opposition party supports the extension there is a high probability that it will happen.

Thanks Nigel I do hope so. We can probably submit a statement of Intent ourselves given more time.
My husband has phoned a couple of Architechs and they are quoting aprox 800 euro's also. Maybe its a band wagon situation I dont know.

As you may have read, the amnesty has been extended by six months.

Whereabouts is the property? There is an architect in Paphos who can do the job for much less than you have been quoted.
