Nigel
Hope you're well.
My wife and I own a villa in a small cul-de-sac with a total of twelve properties.
Recently there was a water leak on the supply side of the pipework outside one of the properties boundary wall which was reported to the new water company EOA and they came out in a timely manner, turned off the supply to the whole street and informed us as the street was a 'Private Road' then they would not repair it. We were not aware the road was private.
After almost two days without water EOA advised they would fix the leak and bill each house accordingly for the work.
This was good news as at least one house in the street had exhausted the water tanks on their roof and therefor had no water at all.
Anyway after looking into the 'Private Road' issue it does actually state on the original site plan that the road is private however for the last seventeen years any issues with supply side water leaks has been dealt with by the municipality at no cost to the house owners. I intend to double check and confirm with the Land Registry that the road is indeed 'Private' but in the interim I thought you may be able to advise us if what the new EOA water company is doing is legal and also regarding the 'Private Road' status what other items and services would the house owners be liable for going forward?
Your advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated as usual, thank you
Kind Regards
Joan & John B
