Building an extension

Hi. We own a bungalow in Peyia and would like to extend half the width of the back to create a sundeck. The property is build on a concrete platform that extends over two meters to the rear, so hopefully extending 1.9m. There are no other properties to the rear of the garden, which backs onto an olive grove. Do I need planning permission and to engage in an architect? If so, does anyone know of an architect in Peyia please?

Hello PaulT,

First question I have is do you have the title deed to your property?? If yes it'll be much easier, if not then you will need the developers assistance.

Any extension or changes to the building always require permits, both planning and building permits if you want to do it legally.

Many people that already have titles make changes without permits, but they are not legal, however, each person to his own. Sorry I don't know any architects in the Peyeia are to offer.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Yes we have full title deeds. I guess I need to engage a builder who could advise the process of getting planning permission etc. Has anyone had any experience of having building work carried out and then applying retrospective planning consent?
