My first question on the forum.

OK I have recently decided to sell my property and have contacted a solicitor (recommended by the sales agent) for an approx figure they would charge me for the legal side of the proceedings. I was informed it would be 12% plus VAT plus any out of pocket expenses. but, I need to ask by email for a better quote.
Can you tell me if this is a high figure? and is it normal for out of pocket expenses to be put on top. ( we all know this could be any trumpet up thing). It seems a large percentage to me is this correct?

Also can you recommend some reliable solicitors where I can get some further quotes from?
