a newly renovated property more likely include title deeds?

Post by cliffyamo »

do you think a newly renovated property (ie a restored village house for instance)would be more likely to include title deeds as the property would have been built for a longer period of time and would the title deeds need amending to include any major alterations/structural work that would have been done on the property?

Hi cliffyamo,

There's a better chance of finding an older property with Title Deeds than a new property. (But having said that, I have a new property with Title Deeds).

Whether the Title Deed of an older property will have been updated to reflect any structural changes is a different kettle of fish.

If you're looking to buy an older property with Title Deeds, you should ask the owner to see the deeds. They will (should) include a plan showing the extent of the property and its boundaries - just like the plans you get with Title Deeds in the UK.
