How to find who owns a property?

Hi,
we are looking to buy a property in Cyprus and have seen a fabulous, but derelict, house in a village.
Is it possible to trace the title deed owners in order to discuss making them an offer for the property?

Regards,

Antony

Hi Antony and welcome to the forum.

This question comes up quite often - see Finding owner of property.

Hi Nigel and thanks for the welcome.

Very useful info and I found the details of the land in question, along with my Dad's land, which is very useful!
I guess I need to employ a lawyer in Cyprus to track down the owners, using the info gained above.

Regards,

Antony

You easiest method is to knock on a neighbours door and ask.

Or just go to the muktars office and ask.

You won't get anything from the land registry and I would suspect any lawyer would have similar trouble.

Even though you may know who the titled owner is, you then have to locate him, since it is likely that his last address is at the bungalow in question.

Good Luck either way.

There's also the possibility that the owner had died and the property's been inherited by a number of family members.

Nigel,
that is exactly the case and they now live in England, Bristol according to my dad.

The DLS info is great and I think we'll speak to an agent in Cyprus about trying to interrogate land registry.
