Land Registry methods of payment

Post by Spondoolies »

Can anyone advise me whether the Larnaca Land Registry apply a surcharge for paying for title deeds transfer by credit card, and if so how much? Alternatively will they accept a cheque drawn on a local Cyprus bank without a bank card? Thanks

Hi

I paid my title deeds in Larnaca in May and was told this was either by cash or a bankers draft.
I personally paid in cash but walking around with over 4000 euros in my pocket was a bit worrying but that is the way things work in Cyprus were nithing is straight forward.
Hope this helps

Hi Andy

Thanks for that, I was told they accepted credit cards. Bankers draft woulkd be best but they are normally made for a specific amount and presumably the Land Registry wont give you the actual figure until you get there?

No they will not - and I've not heard of anyone paying by credit card.

Thanks Nigel, thats interesting. Any idea if there would be a problem in getting a bankers draft for, say, 95% of estimated payment then topping up with cash?

Hello,
My neighbour told me he paid by cheque at the Larnaca office and they will send his deeds by post.

Not that I am aware of - but if you pay by cheque as vinnie suggests, the deeds will be sent to you in the post.

The sign in the Paralimni LR says it accepts CC for payment.

Pay by cheque just takes longer to get the deeds as the cheque has to clear first
Bankers draft no chance as you don't know the amount.
Cash a definate, but when we are talking large sums, it's crazy to be carrying this amount around with you.
