Boundary walls

Hi Nigel
Is it a legal requirement that boundary walls have to be concrete? We have a newly built property we share concrete walls with neighbours either side and at the back of our house. We would like to know if we have other options than concrete.
Thank you

Hi Andrew,

As far as I'm aware there is no legal requirement to have a boundary wall - let alone one made of concrete.

Friends in Paphos have chain link fencing on metal posts - the house opposite me also has a chain link fence mounted on a low wall less than 30 cm high - and I've seen wooden fencing and walls made of blockwork.

My boundary walls are made concrete - but they are designed as retaining walls to stop my garden slipping into the neighbours.

Cheers,

Nigel
