Can non residents still rent out property

Hi All,

I hope everyone is well in these dangerous times.

An interesting question :

When the UK was a member of the EU, a non Cyprus resident who owned a Cyprus property could rent out the said property on a full time tenancy etc.

Does anyone know what the situation is now the UK is no longer in the EU?

Thank you.

Hi Howard

Non-EU citizens renting their property long-term is not a problem.

Hi Nigel,

I trust you are OK and coping with Lockdown.

Just a quickie. Do you know a reliable Accountant who can advise on the tax situation of a non resident paying tax on a rented out Cyprus property I own? I currently declare everything in the Uk.

Many thanks

Howard

Hi Howard

Paul Britton at Articrest will be able to advise you.

You need to declare your rental income in your UK tax return, but this can be offset by whatever you have to pay to the Tax Department in Cyprus.

Cheers
