Management Committees

Post by rogers »

We are being told that it is a requirement of Cyprus law for residents in a complex form a management committee. This is after 9 years residency during which the builder has taken on the care and maintenance of the common areas.
Is this true?

Hi Roger and welcome to the forum.

Yes - it is a legal requirement to establish a Management Committee to look after the insurance, maintenance and repair of the shared facilities.

More information on how to establish and operate a Committee in the English translation of the law.

Also you will find a useful article concerning insurance at Insurance of Cyprus apartments & building complexes (which you can also download as a pdf.)

And Louise Zambartas' article at Managing Cyprus apartments and building complexes contains useful information.
