gardening

Post by pauline michie »

Gardening experts:
1) is it safe to plant juniper skyrocket (the very slender one) near a low garden wall (block work, plaster and paint), so as to provide some privacy? Can you prune it? If so, at what time of the year?
2) We currently have a hibiscus hedge growing against a higher garden wall - a metre or so, I would guess - which is kept closely pruned. Will this eventually cause problems to the structure of the wall?
3) Any other suggestions as to what we could plant to give height and privacy without causing problems to the structure?

I should add that it's a small garden.

Those parts of the wall which have had shrubs planted in front certainly seem to be in better condition than those exposed to the sun and look much more attractive, of course.
