Hello Howard

I'm sorry to hear you'll have to pay your developer to get your deeds - this is extortion!

There's a developer in Apesia who did the same thing to some friends, but some managed to avoid paying following a court judgement.

Hi Nigel,

I agree but what else can we do. We are both well over 70 now and we don't need the hassle any more.

The dream of moving in on June 3rd 2003 followed by a huge party soon went downhill and whilst I would love to see the "ba...d" well and truly sorted, the legal system is far too corrupt to give me any hope.

Therefore. we have taken the cowards way out.

I just wish we could have maybe set some form of precedent for others........

Luckily, we have a first class British tenant who has looked after the house . Once we receive the deeds we will probably sell up but even that will be a hard decision as the tenant has been so good it will be a shame to have to ask him and his family to move. More decisions!!!!

i will let you know if and when it all goes through.

Thank you for all your advice and concerns over the years.

Hi Nigel.
Cash works.

We finally have the transfer completed even with the LRO creating problems at the time of the transfer.

I am unable to describe the sheer relief.

All we need now is a buyer..anyone want a great house in Cyprus?

Thank you for your support Nigel.

You're welcome Howard

Sixteen years to get Title Deeds is indefensible - the lunatics in charge of the asylum in Nicosia MUST sort out the mess.

If your tenant is good, why not wait a while to sell?

Cheers,

Hi Nigel,

It is a toss up whether to sell or keep the tenant.

He and his family have been known to us since 2004 or so and he is a very senior Director. He will probably retire in around 5 years and has said he is quite happy to remain on board until at least that time.

What we need to consider is how old we will then be and how long a sale then takes going forward.

Certainly the income generated currently matches our best performing deposits over here so no grumbles. We just need to watch the exchange rates. Luckily , as an ex employee of HIFX (now taken over by XE) we attract the best rates on exchange.

We will just keep an eye open.

Regards

Re: Title Deeds and the LRO UPDATE

Post by howardinuk »

Well, Well, Well.......

Christmas became very stressful as there had been no sign of those wonderful pieces of paper generated by the highly efficient staff at the Limassol Land Registry Office. Commonly known as "PROPERTY TITLE DEEDS"....

I am however, now able to report that the actual, real, paper based, duly printed, completed Title Deeds have arrived with our Lawyer and we have copies here in the UK.

The relief is indescribable.

So at last, the saga has ended, or so we hope.

To others still waiting patiently within the system we send our best wishes and the words....if you cannot beat them.....pay them cash.

Unfortunately it works wonders.

Thank you Nigel, you have been a great source of support and advice.

Best wishes to you all and we hope you all enjoy success in 2020.
