Property Seperation

Hello, we have an apartment in a complex made up of 3 blocks. It was built by one of the largest developers on the island about 12 years ago.
At the recent AGM we were informed by the Management Committee (MC) that our block is not part of the Complex and has to be treated separately to the rest of the complex.
This was obviously a huge surprise to all of us in the block and we have asked for further explanation, but all they will say is that this was discovered by one of the owners who found a discrepancy on their title deeds; the MC say they have taken legal advice, but don’t seem very keen to show us any of the evidence. We have been told that they are no longer responsible for us and we must create our own MC etc.
What is the best way of proceeding?
Many thanks RSW

Hi RSW

If what you've been told is accurate, then you need to set up a Management Committee for the block.

I'll send you an email as I'd like to check out your Title Deed on-line.

Hi RSW

I found it - there was an error in the translation of the Title Deed you sent.

I've sent you information from the DLS website.

Your apartment is one of ten on your development - if this is the number in your block, then you are a separate entity and will need to set up a Management Committee.

(I've email you the details.)
