Over charging for maintenance

Post by cyprusforme »

Our committee charges all apartments on our complex the same amount, regardless of size.
They also have a very large 'sink fund' but our fees are not reduced.
If the committee has a very large sum in the bank, can they still demand high annual fees? Can we ask for a reduction, or even suspension of fees?

Hi cyprusforme

Unless the regulations have been changed with the agreement of owners, contributions to the management fees must be based on the relative sizes of each of the units.

I suggest you and the owners of at least twenty-five (25%) of the jointly-owned property (including yourself) call for a general meeting to discuss and resolve the issues you've raised.

I have sent you an email with the relevant law to assist.
