Management Com Disbanded and Communal Services Terminated

Hi Nigel
Our Management Committee notified owners that it had disbanded and that all communal services ie, electricity, water, lifts and insurance
would be terminated two weeks later. This was done without any prior discussions with owners or without calling an EGM. Can they legally do this? I would appreciate your advice.

Hi Redrobin.
I've had a quick look through the law but I couldn't find anything - see

But you can apply to the director of the Land Registry to appoint a Management Committee.

Thanks Nigel - Can we owners appoint a new Committee ourselves and start again?

Nigel
You said 'But you can apply to the director of the Land Registry to appoint a Management Committee.'
I take it you meant we can only do that if our previous Committee had been registered at Land Registry.... it was not registered.
Can you confirm, please?
Many thanks.

If you haven't registered the Management Committee you do not have a Management Committee.
You must set one up correctly following the process and procedures outlined in the law (see above).
