Thanks Nigel, if only going to the Lands Registry and getting an answer was that easy I would try. I'll look into paperwork received from the Developers.

Communual Charges
Nigel We live on a complex consisting of Apartments, Town Houses, Semi-detached Villas and Detached Villas. In conversation with a neighbour recently, they said that their Lawyer had advised them that as they have a detached Villa, then they do not come under the auspices of Communual Living and the...

Re: Rightmove website for cyprus??
Steve Please take on board what Nigel has written. Personally, I would come out for 2 weeks, stay in a hotel etc, hire a car and drive around looking for "For Sale" boards on gates/walls of property in the area you think that you would like to live in. I do not have a villa, townhouse, apartment for...

Re: Changing communal property management company
Barry In our experience, the novelty of "self-help" soon wears off when some residents are for example, weeding the green area and others are lording it in the pool. There are 52 weeks in every year. Most residents who come out on holiday don't want to know about doing jobs in the development, only ...

Our Management Regulations say that the roof is the responsibility of the top and bottom floot occupants. Please check yours.

Re: Return of Deposits
Dear Barry
We too, were with a management company which was a subsidary of our (Major), developer. When they terminated our Agreement, all those in credit had their deposits refunded from their final invoices and no charge was levied on the community as a whole.

Re: General Property
Nigel We obtained the services of a UK registered debt-collection agency and they collected the debt. My Lawyer told me that the Cyprus Bar Assn was quite happy for us Brits to run ourselves without getting them involved in minor disputes which only cost everyone loads in the long run. Regards Alan

We have had a Committee for 7 years, never had it registered, why get involved with costs that you don't have to pay. Our Committee works very well and our complex is very neat and tidy and everything runs smoothly.

Re: community expenses
When I was Chairman of our Committee, we claimed NO expenses for the work that we did. We did, however, claim back money we paid out for bulbs etc bought to keep the development in a superb condition.

Is there any hard-fast rule on who owns a fence between two detached villas please? We have our Deeds but can't find any mention on them about ownership of fences.
We want to replace our Developer rope and post pence with something more substantial, but if its not ours....

Re: Building Regulations
Thanks Nigel, there was somone round yesterday and mentioned "3 meters" perhaps they were from the planning office - on a Saturday? Methinks that they do not have their Title Deeds, I'll ask our Developer tomorrow.
Best wishes

Building Regulations
It would appear that our neighbours are planning to build an extension attached to their Villa in front of our balcony. Are there "building regulations" for extensions in Cyprus, if so, do you know where we can obtain a copy? We are friends with them (but obviously, not that friendly) and would have...
