Re: Buying residential land without fence.

Hello Oystein, welcome to the forum and Happy New Year. You will need to have the land surveyed by a surveyor that's registered with the District Land Office. You can find a list at Cadastral field surveys carried out by private surveyors . Alternatively the land can be surveyed by a governmental su...

Re: How to find who owns a property?

There's also the possibility that the owner had died and the property's been inherited by a number of family members.

I went to the bank and showed him the article - he gave me a Cyprus Shrug and told me not to worry about it :-?
I hope you got that in writing.

Re: New laws governing Associations etc.

Hi pissouriabc

I wrote an article about this several months ago - Management committees fall foul of law.

I suggest you hold a committee meeting and pass a motion to change the name - and take the minutes of the meeting to the bank and get the account name changed.

Re: Management Committee

Hi pissouriabc

If the development has been registered as a 'jointly-owned building' you must (by law) have a Management Committee.

If you send me a scan or a clear digital photo of your Title Deed, I can check for you on-line.

I'll send you an email with my address.

Re: Powers of Attorney

Hi Sereneplaces & Garrand

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a PoA document on my computer; I must have inadvertently deleted it.

But I have found something on the Internet that's on its way to you both by email that may help your solicitor to formulate the wording.

Re: Powers of Attorney

You're welcome

I think I have a Power of Attorney document somewhere on my computer. If I can find it, I'll email it to you.

Re: Powers of Attorney

Hi sereneplaces You can have the PoA prepared in the UK by a solicitor and then you and your grandfather will need to visit the Cyprus High Commission or one of the Honorary Consulates to have the PoA certified. (Or you can have the PoA verified by a Notary Public in your area and then forward it to...

Re: What Happened in the Liasides Reposession Case?

Hi Ksenia and welcome to the forum

I've have no further news on the Liasides case, but the 'trapped buyers' law' should have prevented any repossessions. I know a couple with a Liasides property and they're still living in it.

Re: Pursuing defaulters

Hi Henry

Yes - you can take legal action against the defaulters. But you have to be absolutely sure that your Management Committee has been set up according to the law otherwise any legal action will probably fail.

How are you calculating the Communal Fees?

Re: Troublesome tenant - What rights do I have?

Hi Ann A difficult situation. I know from other people who've contacted me that it can be difficult to evict tenants. The are changes to the law in the pipeline to help landlords evict non-paying tenants and there could possibly be other provisions that could help. You'll need to take advice from a ...

Re: Applying for 'Final Completion Certificate'

Thanks Ioanni I had a better experience with the LImassol DLO. After the Certificate of Completion had been issued, I visited the Limassol planning department. They gave me a form to take to my community office for signature. I think the signature cost me €5.00. Back to the Planning Department with ...

Re: Property Seperation

Hi RSW I found it - there was an error in the translation of the Title Deed you sent. I've sent you information from the DLS website. Your apartment is one of ten on your development - if this is the number in your block, then you are a separate entity and will need to set up a Management Committee....
