I read the same thing and was wondering if it was even up-to-date.
I think I may just ring them.

Re: Capital Gains Tax revisited

Also you and Nigel appear to differ on allowances. Pan puts personal allowance in the context of first sale. Which I assume means the opposite of Nigel who says personal allowance can be used as many times till you reach 85k.
Knowing the answer will help me agree price.

Re: Capital Gains Tax revisited

Thanks Pan. So you have to pay all taxes and fees before you get to registry. If the sale happens at registry then you have to find the tax before your actual sale? And do you have to have a contract of sale from a solicitor or can scribble something on a bit of paper. All help appreciated as if I g...

Re: Capital Gains Tax revisited

Thanks again. However I am still confused. Can the allowances be used multiple times until exhausted. And if so can the 17k personal allowance be used for land as well as residencies until you reach the 85k. I say this as the 85k is always stated as being used for residencies occupied for 5 years or...

Re: Capital Gains Tax revisited

Thanks Guys, I had a feeling it may be just for Farmers? Basically I am trying to figure out the cost to me so when I sell/negotiate a price I take that into consideration. I have been trying to figure out indexation allowance but the table Nigel supplied does not go back as far as 1980. I have foun...

Re: Capital Gains Tax revisited

Thanks Nigel I am trying to sell agricultural land inherited that probably has an acquisition cost based on the market value as of 1.1.1980. I am still unsure of allowance other than I don't think this qualifies for the 85k allowance. Could be 17k personal or 25k farm land. What I would like to know...

Capital Gains Tax revisited

Hi I asked this question a while back but am still unsure. What are the rules around CGT. As in: Can the 85k allowance be used for multiple sales until 85k is used up or just once? Is it used for land sales? Is the 17k personal allowance related to the 85k or distinct? If selling agricultural land, ...

Bail out and property

Hi, I have been following the Cyprus crisis all week. For what it's worth I feel that although like banks all over they grew too big and messed up. However the Euro lot have been playing fast and loose with Cyprus and most proposals have been political. They can carry 5.8bn in their back pockets. My...

Re: Anyone have any thoughts about the gas find

Found the expected time-frame from Reuters

Island hopes for domestic flows by 2017, exports by 2019/2020......

A bit far off to help present situation. You would think geological concerns aside that hey would try and speed things up.

Anyone have any thoughts about the gas find

Hi All, We are now all aware of the economic crisis in Cyprus. What with the toxic loans to Greece and the property fiasco. However when reading around the news there does not seem to be much optimism or positive reprting that the gas find will in some way help Cyprus out of its present economic sit...

Cyprus Euro Problem

Hi, Cypriot banks are exposed to Greece. Developers drove a property boom based on easy credit after Cypriot entry into the Euro club. That easy credit was and is the direct consequence of all the European power chasing politicians and the fee grabbing private banks and large investors. Therefore Cy...
