Hi Sime and welcome to the forum,
You shouldn't have to pay the developer's debts. I suggest you apply for your Title Deed as described at https://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers ... d=00126681

Re: Powers of Attorney
Hi Robyn
I suggest you try Chris Christofi at Christofilaw. He may be able to help.
If not, you'll have to get the power of attorney drafted in Cyprus. You can find a list of English-speaking lawyers on the GOV.UK website.

Re: Car port - planning permission required?
My first question will be, was the garage on the original plans? Yes - it was on the original plans Did the FC inspection and subsequent certificate mention it? I don't know. I collected the certificatse from the planning office. I had to take one of the documents they gave to to the community offi...

Re: Car port - planning permission required?
Hi Pan
I have an interesting situation that I haven't progressed.
My house and garage block were built at the same time and inspected. No problem.
But my Title Deed only shows the house - there no mention of the garage on the deed or the cadastral plan.
Any thoughts?
Cheers

Re: Car port - planning permission required?
Hi John and welcome to the forum Generally speaking, any changes you make to the external appearance of a property requires planning permission. You need to check with your local planning department - I can't answer on their behalf. I know that some people have problems as it's relatively easy to cl...

Re: Another No Will problem
Hi AJGX4 and welcome to the forum My condolences on the loss of your father - it's unfortunate that he didn't make a will in Cyprus as this will delay settling his estate. The will he made in the UK has to go through the probate process in the UK first and once a grant of probate is issued it then h...

Re: Immovable property tax arrears
Hi carl I've just checked the DLS database and the general 2013 valuation of the property is €22,800.00. However, as Pantheman advised earlier the property is registered as a building plot (ΟΙΚΟΠΕΔΟ) and the Land Registry records show there's a 2-floor house on the land with a covered area of 45sqm ...

Re: Immovable property tax arrears
Hi carlg
Is this the property in Limassol that you sold last year? If it now belongs to someone else there will be no IPT to pay.
As part of the transfer process the lawyer you appointed as your PoA would have got receipts from the Tax Department etc. confirming all taxes had been paid.

Re: Buying property in Cyprus, should I set bank account first?
Hi Michal I suggest you set up a bank account here. We set up an account many years before we moved to the island with our UK address and it wasn't a problem. Things may have changed since then and I suggest you visit a bank when you next visit to find out exactly what they need. When you have found...

Re: Transfer of Ownership
Thanks Pan
I believe that if donotjudge is a British citizen, he will need Council of Minister's approval before the property can be transferred and registered in his name. (But if he's a Cypriot citizen, there shouldn't be any problems.)
Cheers,
