Re: Received title deeds
Thank you for that. I assume the tax was paid last year by previous owner and we will be notified when new rates are decided on for 2014? We have celebrated too much me thinks..... the savings are suffering.

Received title deeds
Just an update. Having purchased our villa on 1st November last year and having just a few problems, we have now received our title deeds. They are in Greek and I don't understand them but we have them! I was expecting to wait a long time so I am impressed. We have had a little misunderstanding with...

Re: New tax at Land Registry for applying for deeds?
This is exactly the problem. No one can say with certainty who should pay. It is not written down anywhere and is open to interpretation. Now I don't want you two to fight as you are both too valuable on here and a mob would be looking for me! I am letting it go now and will not let this affect my e...

Re: New tax at Land Registry for applying for deeds?
I sent an email to the Land Registry asking them directly who should pay for lodging the assignment contract and have not had a reply. I will try again. I know I will never get this money back but I would still like to know exactly what should have happened just for my piece of mind. My solicitor sa...

Re: New tax at Land Registry for applying for deeds?
Update on the tax we paid. You are both right in that the tax was not a new one but for depositing the assignment contract to protect our interests. Your information made this clearer for me. I asked our solicitor why we had paid and not the seller - this is the reply Quote: In relation to the fee o...

Re: New tax at Land Registry for applying for deeds?
Which means - either way - the seller should have paid? Is that right, although its all too late now I expect. I will ask my solicitor why we paid and not the seller. Thanks for the replies.

Re: New tax at Land Registry for applying for deeds?
We paid cash. We were told it was a tax for registering the assignment agreement. After that we paid transfer tax and obtained deeds (to be posted out). We were doing everything on the same day and it was seen as avoiding the tax so we had to pay that first. Our solicitor said this was not done in a...

New tax at Land Registry for applying for deeds?
We went last week to the Land Registry to pay our transfer tax and obtain our title deeds, and to complete on our villa at the same time. We were charged a 2,000 Euro tax for the registering of the assignment, even though we were completing on the same day, in order for them to proceed. We were told...

Buying a property, transfer tax question
We are buying a villa and need to ask about transfer fees. Are we right in saying that as at this present time the more people on the deeds/contract the less the tax will be. We are thinking of adding 2 of our children, as well as us, to take advantage of the individual allowances. The original pric...
