Guide to buying property in Cyprus

Young couple taking delivery of their new homeBuying a property in Cyprus is very easy and the choices available are almost endless. I've seen properties advertised from 25,000 for a small studio apartment to more than 4,000,000 for a luxurious Cyprus villa set in acres of land on the outskirts of Nicosia. You’ll have no problems finding a property and no difficulties finding someone eager & willing to sell it to you.

Some people visiting Cyprus, fall love with the place and immediately go on a property buying spree. Many of them fail to appreciate that taking a holiday in Cyprus and making the island their permanent home are two completely different things.

Second only to not taking independent legal advice, the most common mistake people make when buying a permanent home in Cyprus is to buy in a tourist rather than a residential area. They discover too late that their neighbours are often noisy & constantly changing; they have no facilities nearby and find it difficult to make permanent friends. Many sell their first property after a year or two and move to a residential area. To avoid making the same mistake yourself, don’t rush into buying property in Cyprus!

Your property buying options

As well as deciding where you want to live in Cyprus, you need to decide what type of property you want.
