Title deeds, you have them, then you dont!

Hello Nigel

I have posted previously on here about us buying an old property WITH TITLE DEEDS and carrying out extensive renovations. And everything went near to perfect..We moved in and its great....Except we suddenly find ourselves WITHOUT TITLE DEEDS :-?
Everything has been been passed,we have a final permit for the renovations, but the powers that be tell us that new title deeds will have to be issued due to the renovations.
The last property we bought on this sunny island,,we had to wait eight years for the title deeds...We virtually have not much chance in selling our beautifull property without the deeds, and with our,,,well,,,advancing years,,the chances are that we will be seeing the grim reaper before we see the deeds.
Would love your input on this please.

Hi Terry,

Hopefully you will not have to wait too long for the deeds to be re-issued. If you have all the permits and plans it's a matter of getting them to the local Land Registry Office.

I cannot say how long it will take the Land Registry to reissue the deed - but in my case, when I applied to have my house added to my deed, it took the Land Registry in Limassol eleven months.

I suggest you visit the Land Registry office with all the paperwork and plans - if you need anything more, the Land Registry officer will be able to advise you. I found the staff in Limassol very helpful - they helped me to complete the (single) form.

Regards,
