Land Registry Fees

Can anyone tell me if we have to go through the developer to get an appointment at the Land Registry?

Also has anyone had any experience with the Land Registry? Although we were told that the fees are based on the purchase price, we are now told that the fees are based on the current valuation. The fees we have been quoted by our developer are way above what we were expecting to pay, and values our apartment at an unrealistic valuation, frankly it feels that legalised robbery.

Hi broughton

As both of you have to go to the Land Registry together - it's up to both of you to agree a date and time.

Property Transfer Fees are based on the market value of a property at its date of sale (not its current market value).

Land Registries have been known to try and overcharge - you'll find an article about this at http://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers. ... /id=007624 and another one worth reading at http://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers. ... /id=004712

Regards,

Thanks very much, just find it a bit daunting going up against the Government, but none the less I'll have a go.
