Where do you register your management commitee

Hi,

We are in the process of finalising our management committee.

I have read or heard different advice of whether a committe needs to be registered or not? Someone we know went to the land registery to register their committee and was told they didn't need it registered as they had sorted out who would run the committee themselves.
We are in a similar position where we have appointed our president, finance and secretary. Does any one know if we need to register with the authorities.

Also what "required documentation" do you have to take? Can any of the appointed management register the committee, or does it have to be the Director (Chairman/ President). Would it be possible to take a written statement of all members of the "management committee" with a photocopy of their passports to get it registered?

If we don't need to register our committee, will the owners association be legally recognised under Cyprus law? Do we need any legal representaion to be recognised?

Thanks

Hi northernbelle

There is no requirement to register a committee. BUT you have to make sure that it is set up and run according to the procedures set out in the relevant law - see http://www.cyprus-property-buyers.com/f ... gs-law.pdf

Earlier this year, the Department of Lands & Surveys published a revised 'Citizens Charter', which has several pages on the subject of Jointly-Owned Buildings. You can get a copy of that from http://cdn.cyprus-property-buyers.com/w ... harter.pdf

Regards,

Thank you once again Nigel,

I appreciate your advice.

We have sent a copy of the 11A Buildings under Joint Ownership, to all our owners and will appoint a lawyer asap.
