Water & Electric

Hi,

Quick question for you all.

I have been told by my developer that I need to transfer the water and electricity bills into my name and that I must have a power of attorney in place to do this. I don't have a power of attorney in place and fail to see why I need a lawyer to do something so simple. The developer did say that he could send an authorisation letter for me to sign and that they could be transferred that way. The cost is €250. This seems extortionate for the water and electric board to just change the name on a bill.

Advice please.

Regards

Janner

Hi Janner

All this costs is the developer's time - €250 is ridiculous!

Hi,

You don't need a lawyer, but you have to give authorisation to someone to do this for you. €250 is taking the mick, but alas. Don't you have any friends or relatives here to do it for you?? Give them authorisation, a copy of the contract of sale a copy of your passport and they can do it.
Good luck
