Use of multiple agents to sell

Hi gang. I'm hoping to sell a property in Cyprus. I have an informal (verbal) agreement with an agent who has thus far not succeeded to find a buyer. I have previously told the current agent that I would eventually add another agent to the sale process (someone new has just verbally agreed to do this). Nothing has been signed by anyone in either instance. The agents are completely independent of one another. Is it reasonable to assume that I have nonexclusive verbal agreements? If the property is sold by one agent, can the other make a claim for commission? I am going to inform the first agent and just want a broad idea of your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance and HNY 2025!

Any agency worth their salt, would demand a written and signed agreement and NOT verbal.

Are you sure they are registered and licensed agents??

You can list the property with a number of agencies and you only pay the one that has brought you the client and has a successful sale.

Hi Pantheman. Thanks for your response. He is definitely registered and licensed. The agents trust me because of my reputation and transparency. I have now informed the first agent that a second one is to be appointed. He understands. I'm certainly happy to sign written agreements with both so long as these contain non-exclusivity clauses. Many thanks again for your comments.
