I'm thinking of renting out my house as a short term holiday rental, i have read that a new law came into place early 2020 regarding needing a licence but i can find no recent information. Can you point me in the right direction please?

Thanks

Hello Libben and welcome to the forum.

A new law came into effect in February last year regulating self-catering rentals.

You can find an article on the subject at Law regulating self-catering rentals enacted.

Thank you for that, greatly appreciated. I have looked on many sites but cannot find any application forms or any recent information (beyond March 2020) regarding costs etc.
Could you direct me please?
Thanks

Hi Libben

I've roughly translated the law using Google Translate and it seems that it's the Ministry of Tourism that issues the licences.

I've looked through the Deputy Ministry of Tourism website but I can't find any relevant information or application forms.

I suggest you phone the Ministry of send them an email - contact details available on their website.

Regards,

I am not aware of anyone that has done this and I know numerous people in the industry.

It is also mainly aimed at the AirBnB and such sites.

That said I guess they will roll it out once this pandemic is all over.

I wouldn't worry too much about this, Cyprus has a gazillion laws that are never enforced.
