Maintenance on owned land

I have land in the paphos region. One is agricultural the other in residential area. I have been told that I need to pay about 800 euros per year to keep residential zoned land clean. Is this correct? Is it law? How is a block of land determined to be clean? Thanks for your help.

Hi Bobensero and welcome to the forum.
Yes - you need to keep the land 'clean' to reduce the fire risk. Every year the owner of plot next to us has the land strimmed to get rid of the weeds, etc.
I would have thought you could do this yourself rather than paying €800.
Regards,

Hi Bobensero and welcome to the forum.
Yes this is correct, it needs to be kept clear of overgrowth, and any rubbish, however €800 is taking the p*ss, I don't know who told you this, but I suppose it also depends on the size of this land. If it is thousands of m2 then OK I can understand, but for a simple build plot I would have thought around 50-100 euros or less for a local gardener to keep tidy.
Good luck.
