Completing and Sending 318A Form - 2 Questions

Hello Nigel,
I recently received from our developer the details needed to complete the IPT tax form 318A. I have 2 questions if I may:
1. The property is in joint name with my husband. There is no indication as to whether we only complete one form and sign it jointly, or whether we have to complete one each. If the latter, how do we report the MV 1/1/80, ie. do we each state the full MV, or should we each report 50% of the stated MV?
2. As we live in the UK and do not have a representative to take the documents (also 163A and passport copies) to the Paphos tax office, our only choice is to mail them to Paphos. However, the only communication details we have been able to obtain are the telephone number and email address. Can you please advise me where I can find their mailing address? Thank you.

Hi AFBeach and welcome to the forum.
You need to complete a form each, enter the full 1980 MV on both and put 50% in the land & building columns.
You cane email the forms to the tax office in Nicosia - more details at

Dear Nigel,
Thank you so much for your prompt response. We will both complete and I will email to Nicosia as advised, and will let this forum know the outcome (positive or negative). Kind regards.

Hi there,
I said I would feed back on my experience emailing the forms directly to Mr Christofi in Nicosia. Unfortunately not very positive. I sent my email with all the documents and clear copies of our passports on 24th October and received no reply. I tried calling Mr Christofi on his direct number many times and no reply. I called the Nicosia Tax Office helpline and spoke to a very helpful lady. She told me that a tax file had not even been opened for me yet and said she would try to make contact directly with Mr Christofi to have him email me back. Still waiting, and as the clock is ticking away, no doubt I will have to pay the fine for being late through no fault of my own.

Hi AFBeach
More than 8,500 people to date have red that article I posted and it isn't surprising that you haven't received a reply yet. I expect Mr Christofi passes the info on to staff dealing with the tax.
I posted an article a couple of days ago that included some of the problems facing the tax office:
"Although many thousands of foreign home buyers without Title Deeds paid IPT, their details have yet to be recorded on the Inland Revenue system. This is due to a problem that when a property is purchased by a foreigner, their passport number is used to identify them with the Land Registry – and the authorities have difficulty in confirming their identity if their passport has been renewed and given a different number.
This problem affects many foreign buyers, most of whom are British and who mainly bought in Paphos."
What type of property do you have - house, apartment?
Regards,

Hi Nigel,
I am a foreign buyer, British, and bought in Paphos approx 10 years ago. It is a 3 storey maisonette on a compound. Yes, our passports were renewed 5 years ago, so this problem would apply to us. Sounds like a nightmare for the tax office! We do not have our title deeds yet and I was told by the lady on the Nicosia Helpline that the reason she could not identify us is because our details were not yet recorded on the Inland Revenue system. She did successfully make contact with Mr Christofi because I received an email from him today confirming receipt of our documents and advising that they have been sent to the competent Tax Section for further action. I guess I just wait to hear from them in due course.
