Should I decide to stay, for example 6 month in Cyprus and 6 months in UK how will this effect my tax. I am currently registered immigration here and with Cyprus for tax purposes.
Thank you

Hi Pippa,
HM Customs and Excise has published a guide containing information on the new statutory residence test introduced for tax years 2013-14 onwards. This test will establish your residence status for UK tax purposes.
You can download that guide from
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/international/rdr3.pdf which should help clarify your position regarding UK tax.

Thanks Nigel for the quick reply, I have had a skim of the document and as with all HMRC document is very convoluted and will need very large glass or two of something to make it understandable!!!!

I think Pippa that if you spend 6 months in the UK you will almost certainly become liable for UK tax.
I stayed longer than I should have done for the last two summers - but I was receiving medical treatment.

Hi Pippa
I'm pretty sure that if you spend over 90 days in the UK, then you become liable for income tax. I know this from past years when a friend who was working overseas miscalculated and was 1 day over.
