Hello,
Would you please be able to suggest what will be the easiest way the revoke a general power of attorney that was given to a family member at an undocumented date years ago? Meaning, we have no copy of this document and can’t recall when was it signed.
Can this be done by contacting land register directly? Or does the family member should receive an official letter through registered mail?
Thank you,
Dave

Hi Dave_Lages and welcome to the forum,
Here's a PoA used to discharge a lawyer. You can use this as a basis for your family member
Dear name of old lawyer
Please accept this email as notice of our intention to discharge you as our lawyers henceforth.
All and any powers of attorney which you hold are revoked. (if applicable)
We would appreciate your confirmation of receipt of this notification together with written confirmation that your fees have been paid in full.
Please send our file to;
Name and address of your new lawyer
Thank you for your prompt attention

Re: General POA revocation
Thank you so much for your quick respond Nigel.
How is this kind of document handed to a family member without using a service of a lawyer so it will also be considered legit?
Do I need to certify it?
Do I need registered mail with signature of the recipient?
As you can clearly understand, the family member and myself are currently not at best terms unfortunately.
Therefore I’m in need of the most legitimate way to revoke whatever POA of mine that is in his disposal.
Also, somewhere on this forum I came across of a POA revocation done by contacting the land register directly. Is that something you ever heard about?
Best,
Dave

Hi Dave_Lages
Send it recorded delivery - the named recipient must sign on delivery.
I've not heard of the Land Registry revoking a PoA. Please let me have the link to the posting.

Do both, as Nigel says, be sending registered post and by going to the Land Registry and informing them.Dave_Lages wrote: ↑23 Jul 2023 14:59 Thank you so much for your quick respond Nigel.
