Legality of Contract

Post by mary&joe » 12 Feb 2017 10:09

Morning. We have a contract signed by all parties on 19th January on a commercial premises, to take over the premises on 1st March.
The Landlord has now cancelled the contract as he says the work on the property will not be completed on time.
As regards the contract he says - " In view of the aforesaid, the aforesaid Contract of Lease is hereby terminated with immediate effect as it has never materialized" .
Can you advise if the Contract is Legal and binding from the date it is signed (and deposit paid) or from the date of the commencement of the lease.

Good morning mary&joe and welcome to the forum.

I don't know the answer to your question. I suggest that you speak with one of the lawyers on the list provided by the British High Commission in Nicosia.

Regards,
