Hunting in Paphos

Post by Irini »

Hello all,

I'd like to know if anyone can provide some areas in Paphos that are non-hunting areas.
It seems to me that any village outside the city center has hunters.
This makes it impossible for me to consider real estate in some otherwise beautiful areas.

Peyia-Kissonerga-Argaka-Chloraka-Tsada and many more...

I tried to find a map of hunting areas online, but it doesn't exist.

Anywhere an animal advocate can live without hunters nearby?

If you want no hunters, you have 2 choices:

1. Live in the city
2. Don't buy in villages, live in the city.

All areas around the villages are hunting areas with some exceptions. Various areas are closed off for hunting for periods and then opened up whilst others get closed on a rotational basis. Even if you live near a restricted area, there is no guarantee hunters won't still go there.

It's just the way it is. Shooting sessions ends end Feb.

I think the game reserve has maps on it's website, but the site address escapes me for the moment, I will see if I can find it.

Just to add t Pan's comment.

We had friends who lived on the Kamares development in Paphos. During the hunting season shotgun pellets occasionally showered their home.

Live in the city.

Wow. That's helpful but disappointing.

So when you say 'live in the city', what areas would be considered 'city'?

I've been recently looking at Kato Paphos, Anavargos, Geroskipou, Chlorakas, Kissonerga, Emba, Mandria, Anarita, Timi (generally closer to the shore).

Would any of these areas be hunter free?

I've also been looking at flats in complexes (condos).

Thanks for your guidance!

There is an app called Artemis CY where you can check that.
Also, if they are hunting in the non-hunting zone - you can always call the police.
