Payment of IPT 2016 via JC Smart

Hi,

Am hoping someone can help help. Last year when I went to the Inland Revenue to pay my IPT they said I could do it online in the future. I've been onto the JC Smart website & looked under TAX department & I can't find any options to pay it.

I'm in the UK at the moment & paid it about this time last year so am sure payment is due now.

Could anyone help me please?

Hi pc13

When you receive your IPT Notice from the Tax Department you should visit JCC Smart and you'll find Immovable Property Tax listed in the Tax Department's section (it's not available yet). You then enter your JCC Reference shown on your IPT Notice.

If you pay by 31 October you will receive 75% reduction in the amount you paid last year. If you pay by between 1 November & 31 December will receive a 72.5% reduction in the amount you paid last year.

Before paying you need to register with JCC.

Immovable Property Tax payment is now listed in the Tax Department's section of the JCC Smart website.

The Tax Department started sending out IPT demands last Thursday.

I registered with JCC Smart as you suggested Nigel but haven't yet received the bill for property tax for 2016. Have others received the bill yet?

Some people have received their IPT - I'll know if I've received mine tomorrow when I get back to Cyprus.

I didn't get one last year, but I found out why when I went to pay in May 2016. My address was down as just Galway, Ireland. As good as our postmen are, that letter hadn't any hope of reaching me, so the bills are lost somewhere in the post. I had to pay interest on overdue ones of course, but I got them to change my address to the full correct one. They didn't seem to have a problem with posting it to Ireland. That's why I'm anxious to check if others got their bills yet.

It maybe worthwhile contacting the Tax Department to see if it's been sent to the correct address.

I emailed the property tax department at the email given to me by the tax official but didn't get a reply.
However the invoice did arrive at my home address here in Ireland and thanks to your advice, I had already registered with JCC Smart Payments.
The invoice is now paid with 75% reduction!

My wife and I have received our 2016 IPT invoices. However, they are in Greek and show 100% of the property value for each of us instead of an equal split. Is this merely incompetence or what?

I suggest you contact the Tax Department - each demand should show 50% of the property's 1980 value.

Is the amount they are asking for the same as last year?

The basic calculation is the same as last year except for the full property value being used on each invoice. My neighbour's IPT invoice has been drawn up on the same basis. I'll visit the tax office next week.

Yes the full amount is shown, but depending upon when you pay the tax offices will apply the appropriate discount.
