registration of chairman and committee

Does anyone know how we can check whether or not an individual has managed to officially register himself as Chairman in the Paphos/Peyia area?

Can a very small committee agree between themselves that an 'Acting Chairman' can become Chairman? Nothing has been done formally but we are given to understand that all they would have to do is get him 'rubber stamped' in Paphos. If so, our solicitor hasn't caught up with this!

Is there a register one can access from the UK?

The committee no long exists by the way and this individual is acting as though he is running a private business and charging us double the market rate for managing a complex such as ours, the effect being that our properties are unsaleable.

Dear Pauline,

I suggest you read through the law on the subject (in English) that you can find at http://www.cyprus-property-buyers.com/f ... gs-law.pdf - there is no requirement for a Management Committee's chairman to be registered (either officially or unofficially).

If you are not content with the way the Management Committee is being run, you should call meeting of the residents as described in the law in the link above. It sounds as if this chap has taken it on himself as the others in the development are too lazy or cannot be bothered to get involved - or perhaps a conflict of personalities has arisen.

Online access to a register? No chance.

Regards,

There is no provision as yet at the Paphos Land Registry for the Registration of a Committee let alone a Chairman. The only thing you can register is your Regulations which incur a fee of €60.
