Re: Should IPT be a movable feast?

Hi fbg52 and welcome to the forum, There have been several discussions on this problem. According to the law: "The obligation of every owner of immovable property in the Republic of Cyprus is to pay annually a tax according to the market value of his property as assessed on the 1st January 1980, kno...

Re: Beware VAT

There are landowners who think they can 'mimic' the more professional developers building a house on their land. Many of these do not have a clue what they are doing or the ability to run a business. One case I recall some years ago involved a property developer whose main job was a barman - he had ...

Re: land agents

I guess that's the Agia Varvara in Nicosia (rather than the one in Paphos)? You can find a list of registered estate agents in Nicosia at http://skek-creaa.com/english/lists/nicosia.pdf . As for a lawyer, the British High Commission's list has two that are based in Nicosia, Yiannos G. Georgiades and...

Re: Beware VAT

Dear MsMarie - welcome to the forum and thank you for your cautionary tale - and I'm pleased to hear that your builder paid up. We also built our house here and engaged a local architect to draw up the plans, obtain the permits, etc and eventually he oversaw the construction work. One other point to...

Re: land agents

Hi suenat1

I'm sure he could provide you with a valuation. It maybe worth getting a couple more as you would in the UK, although I do not know what the costs here are likely to be.

(I had our 'flat' in the UK valued a couple of years ago - it cost me £110.00 - inc VAT).

Re: land agents

Hi suenat,

I have not heard of the gentleman - but I can confirm that he is a registered estate agent - Reg. No. 381.

Are you selling or buying?

Re: POWER OF ATTOURNEY - FRAUD

I'm afraid that it may require a visit to Cyprus to sort this out.

Does the bank have any branches in the UK? If so, it may be worth visiting their head office and discussing the situation with them.

Re: Repair of Communal Lift

Brian,

You could try getting a lawyer to write a 'stiff' letter, in Greek & English, advising residents of their responsibilities. This may ease the problem.

Re: Title Deeds

Hi LadieGolfer, Even though the laws have been amended, it will still take a number of years for the authorities to issue Title Deeds. The main aspect of the amendments that will speed up the issue of deeds is that developers can now apply for a division permit at the same time they apply for a buil...

Hello Fred and welcome to the forum. Louise is being kept pretty busy and doesn't visit here too often these days. It is good to hear that your all-important Title Deeds are ready, I suggest that you complete the transfer as soon as convenient. The fact that two plots have been combined and assessed...

Hello Brian,

You are required by law to have a committee - the other residents cannot just ignore the law.

Hello Don Juan and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, a lot of this sort of thing goes on - in many trades. Best to get yourself a reliable Cypriot company to do the job.

Are you part of a communal development?

Rgds,
