Re: Can we sell without deeds?
We've had an offer from a potential buyer whose agent claims we don't need to get the deeds transferred into our name and they'll sort out the transfer. Has anyone got any views on this? My concerns is if the buyer decided to pull out at the last minute and we're left with the deeds to sort out aft...

Re: Deeds not available
You will not be able to get the deeds to the property until any claims that pre-date your contract of sale have been removed - and the search certificate will list these (and others) when you meet your developer. Nigel, I would have said and claims full stop, pre and post date. I don't see what the...

Re: Tax Clearance Certificate
Thanks for the reply, Nigel. Some of my money was released to the vendor upon signing the sale agreement (with the remainder to be paid on completion) and I suspected it was for something like this. It just seems to be taking much longer than I would have expected so I was trying to gain some insig...

Re: Insurances linked to a Mortgage.
OK the info I had relates to a law of the Republic, namely:
Law 2001 39(1) para's 37 - 39 being the most important. I have the it, but it is in Greek.
This was issued by the Central bank, so any branch trying to refuse, needs to be told otherwise.
Hope this helps

Re: Certificate of Final Completion
I understood that legally, services (i.e. electricity) cannot be connected to a new property until the Certificate of Final Approval has been issued. All that's needed to connect electricity is a building permit. I'm not sure what's needed for water (but it is metered). Regards, Same for the water ...

If you are looking for a holiday home for yourself that's one thing and there are many websites you could look at on the net. Just type into Google 'Cyprus properties for sale'. If you are looking to purchase a home to also rent out, you should be aware that under Cypriot law, you do need a CTO Lice...

Re: Adding another name to the Title Deeds - do-able?
Zen, Just a note, I would be surprised if you could sell at a profit in today's market anyway, assuming you bought the apartment in the first place and it wasn't a gift. Secondly, one seems to forget that in order to pay CGT, you would have had to make a profit in the first place and I for one would...
