Re: Am I a trapped buyer?

The subdivision of the land into individual plots enables the Land Registry to issue a Title Deed for each of the individual properties. So the Title Deed you will receive will show your property alone - no-one else's.

Re: Am I a trapped buyer?

If the developer has not paid the IPT then you will pay IPT at the rate applicable to yourself. If the developer has paid IPT then you will have to repay him the amount he has paid for the property you purchased and then recover overpayments from the Tax Department. The Land Registry will register y...

Hi copps and welcome to the forum. I've answered your question in my corrects in Cyprus Property News. But as others may benefit, here's what I wrote: Regardless of whether you are a trapped buyer you need to apply for your Title Deeds as described in my article Applying for Title Deeds (update 17 M...

Re: Central Bank Authorisation

Hi timvea and welcome to the forum I have heard of this process from a number of people. It takes a few weeks for the CB to authorise. A tip - If you're taking the money out of the country use a currency transfer company as the banks charge like wounded bulls (as an Australian friend of mine would s...

Re: Probate question

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum. I've moved your question to the legal section. I know that obtaining a grant of probate in Cyprus can take a very long time. I can't answer your question I'm afraid, but someone else here may - and I notice you've posted the question on another forum. You could als...

Re: shared mortgage but only one person paying.

Is there any way that the title deed can come out under my sole name since i am the one who paid for the entirety of the mortgage? If you and your sister's name is on the sale agreement the Title Deed will be issued in joint names (the joint mortgage isn't significant). If/when she reappears she ca...

Re: Removal of Maintenance Services Company

Hi Steve

I agree with Pan. Voting is confidential and the services company doesn't need to see the papers.

Re: Estate Agents

Hi Krissi and welcome to the forum I suggest you look at a number of estate agents operating in the area where you plan to relocate. Visit http://www.creacyprus.org.cy/sek/page.php?pageID=9 and click on the third menu item from the left, then select the 'city' from the 'Πόλη' drop-down box and press...

Re: Hello from Oz

Hi Toni You will not find the Greek language a barrier. My wife & I had Greek lessons for 3 years but every time we tried to use it most replied in English, but a few spoke so fast we couldn't understand. Most people here speak English. When we moved into our house I went to the post office to get t...

Good morning Toni & welcome to the forum. A lawyer in the Republic could make enquires on your behalf with the Department of Lands & Surveys in Nicosia (you can get a list of English-speaking lawyers provided by the British High Commission in Nicosia by clicking here ). But I think one of the proble...

Re: Complex Insurance

Hi RoyalT When you say you have 'a piece of paper' is that from the insurance agent/company or a note from the developer? If it's the former that is sufficient (and there's a good chance the policy will be in Greek.) I believe you have the deeds to the property (from your message in April 2015). I d...
