Sorry to hear of your predicament & thank you for posting the PS. In Cyprus any law it seems can be broken with impunity if your face fits. Having electricity connected without a building permit only enables & encourages the deceit and lies that are spun by those wishing to sell dishonourably ...

Please heed the sound advice you are being offered by those that know. I can speak the language & still got stung - NO DEED NO SALE is a good philosophy, it will save the inevitable tears & heartache later on.
I have solved my problem after three and a half years of hard graft & I would ...

Hi Jackie
Let's hope your place is a lot nearer completion if not completed when you visit in May. It certainly appears to be taking a long time.
You have no doubt realised that Nigel's advice is invaluable so please ensure that at least your mother your mother has everything tied up tighter than a ...

Apologies for the delay in responding but I am very pleased to hear you are now sorted. I guess like anyone else all you needed was re-assurance that everything was bona fide, legal & above board. Not too much to ask is it.
Thank you, I have managed to sort my problems out, however not in ...

Very well put, glad to hear you managed to get your title at last. What you describe so eloquently is, it would appear, too often the norm. For reasons best known to themselves some lawyers (& it appears to be a significant number) do not appear to have grasped the concept of the lawyer ...

Re: Contractual Obligations? Remember this is Cyprus.
Nigel, exactly why I posted it, hopefully others will not fall into the same mire of lies, empty promises & deceit. However, how in heavens name can being a victim of fraud be avoided (because that's what it is called in a civilised society) given the laws as they stand & the standard way of ...

Contractual Obligations? Remember this is Cyprus.
Like many purchasers who diligently do their homework & take advice from all quaters then visit the Island on a regular basis to confirm their prospective purchase is exactly to their requirements I ensured as far as was reasonably practicable that I had what any sane person or lawyer would consider ...

Sadly Nigel this did prove to be another of the "next week's" we have heard so many times before. Here we are at the end of the first week of the new year & no further forward than we were over two years ago except many thousands of pounds poorer & fully bloated to bursting point & beyond on empty ...

Welcome, It is always nice to hear of a successfull relatively trouble free purchase and of course there have been hundreds of them. Like you many have made purchases they are more than pleased with & in my family's case have been doing so since 1974. The problems there are seem to have arisen ...

The mind boggles. I find it hard to comprehend that comments as described above are given the dignity of publication in a newspaper. I am not familiar with the piece in question however or the context in which the comments were made.
Could it be that the vast numbers of dissatisfied buyers passing ...

I have just read the latest (25/11/07) postings on your Buying property in Cyprus, property purchasing guide website & am astounded but somewhat perversely comforted to know that the problems I have experienced since 2005 in getting lawyers or agents or for that matter anyone to accept any kind of ...

It seems our mail referring to our plans to place the matter into the hands of the authorities has secured a response. We are told we should have news by the end of next week.
